About North Padre Island

In 1800, the King of Spain gave an island in the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas Coastal Bend, as a gift, to Father (Padre) Nicholas Balli -- thus the name "Padre Island".  North Padre Island is located at the northern tip of that Island within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi TX.  Once only known as a "barrier island protecting the city of Corpus Christi", North Padre Island has evolved into a beautiful and tranquil tropical community with residential houses, condos, and townhouses as well as beachfront hotels.  Access to the Island is via a causeway and the JFK Intra-coastal bridge over Laguna Madre.  No matter where you are on the Island, you are only 5 minutes from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and can hear waves crashing on the shore.  To see the "Happenings" on The Island go to www.islandmoon.com   Come check us out!

Island Living

Most residential properties are located on the Laguna Madre side of the Island leaving the Gulf of Mexico side for hotels, condos and townhouses, many for vacation rentals.  We are considered a "bedroom" community for folks working in Corpus Christi proper.  We Islanders feel that we are on vacation 365 days a year.  Those who work "over the bridge" look forward to the end of the day when they can head to our "Island Paradise".  North Padre is home to many retirees who love the laid-back way of life.  We are also the winter home for folks escaping cold weather conditions.  The Island is known for cool sea breezes and sunshine filled days.  Our average temperature is a balmy 71 degrees and we boast an average of 255 clear, sunny skies annually.  Come check us out!
